If you’ve heard about how liquid soaps can wreak havoc on your endocrine system but are discouraged when you see the price tag on their natural counterparts, you’re not alone.

It can leave you feeling stuck between what’s best for your body and what’s easiest on your wallet.

What’s the solution?

Put on you DIY hat!

Making your own natural cleaning products can be fun, easy, AND save you some cash.   (You can whip up a batch of this recipe for under $2).

If you’re new to crafting your own cleaning or body care products, foaming hand soap is an easy place to start.

What you’ll need:

  • 8.5 or 10 oz. Hand Soap Dispenser with Foaming Pump
  • Distilled Water
  • Liquid Castile Soap (I like Dr. Bronner’s Unscented Pure-Castile Soap)
  • 10-15 Drops of Essential Oils
  • Aloe Gel (optional)

How to make it:

Pour 2-4 Tablespoons Liquid Castile Soap in a small glass dish.

Add 10-15 drops of your favorite essential oil or blend.  Try Thieves oil blend for a rich and spicy aroma or Citrus Fresh oil blend for a bright and invigorating aroma (both included in the Young Living Starter Kit).

Tip:  Have a favorite blend you like using in your diffuser?  You can use the same blend in this recipe!  You may need to adjust the number of drops of each oil to reach 10-15 drops total.

Add 1 Tablespoon Aloe Gel to add a touch of nourishing moisturizer (optional).

Blend with a wire whisk.

Pour the blend into the hand soap dispenser, and add distilled water until the bottle is about 1/2 full, swirling the bottle to mix as you go.

Once mixed, add more distilled water until the bottle is almost full.  This will insure that there’s room for the pump!

Place the pump on the bottle and enjoy!
